From Ondo, Nigeria — building a one-person business with nothing but a laptop, a system, and a lot of early mornings.
[ The story so far ]
I started as an HTML email developer. Not glamorous, but I was good at it. I learned how to build emails that actually render — across Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, 15+ clients. I got Top Rated on Upwork. 100% Job Success Score. I built things for brands I'd never heard of and a few I had. It paid. But it didn't compound.
Then I realized: I was building other people's systems. I had none of my own.
So I built Writepat in 22 days — alone, no co-founder, no funding. A SaaS tool that takes a newsletter and repurposes it into platform-native posts for X, LinkedIn, and Substack. I launched it. I kept freelancing. I started writing publicly every week. That's where I am now — three things running at once, figuring it out in public, one Saturday at a time.
You don't need a team to build something meaningful. One person with the right systems can outpace a bloated org.
Writing is thinking. If you can't explain it clearly, you don't understand it yet.
Own your distribution. Rented platforms change the rules. Your newsletter is yours.
Systems beat motivation. Build the habit, then trust the process.
Transparency builds trust faster than polish. Share the real numbers, the real struggles.
Ship before it's ready. Iteration is the only way to learn what works.
The Solo Stack goes out every Saturday. One essay on building a one-person business — systems, content, freelancing, and what I'm learning in real time. I also publish longer articles on the blog. Everything I write is from inside the process, not looking back at it.
I build HTML emails and newsletter systems for brands and creators who care about craft. Mailchimp, Kit, Beehiiv, Klaviyo, HubSpot — I've worked across all of them. From design to code to deliverability, I handle the full stack. Available for select projects on Upwork.
Writepat is a SaaS tool I built solo in 22 days. You paste your newsletter, it generates platform-native posts for X, LinkedIn, and Substack — in your voice, ready to publish. One input. Multiple outputs. Built because I needed it myself.
