Newsletter
I 50x my email list within 4 months
Four months ago, I had 10 subscribers.
Don’t ask me how I got them, because I do not know either.
What I know is that I now have 500+ subscribers on my email list.
But here’s the thing, you might think
Owol, "I don’t have a newsletter."
So why should you bother reading this?
Because I’m about to show you exactly how I did it. And I have something for you to start your newsletter for free (Ta-da).
How I 50x My Subscribers (Without Posting About It Every Day)
I got most of my subscribers from LinkedIn. I’m sure you know that platform because you probably joined my list from there. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone if you don’t.
Here’s what’s wild: I mostly promote my newsletter 2-3 times a month. Not even close to the amount of time I wish to promote it.
Yet I still went from 10 to 500+ subscribers.
If you want to grow your email newsletter, here are 4 repeatable tactics that take less than 10 minutes a week.
Most of this you’re already doing.
Tactic 1: Repurpose Your Content
You need to post at least 4 times a week on your social media.
Instead of writing new content for my socials, I repurpose my newsletter. I write one piece of content and repurpose it for LinkedIn and X.
This saves me time and keeps me consistent.
Tactic 2: The Gift Comment
2-3 times a week, include your newsletter link in your social media post comments.
Give something for free, that something can be your newsletter.
Even though LinkedIn hides comment links, some people still see them. And those people subscribe.
Tactic 3: The Profile Link
Take advantage of your profile link to get visitors to subscribe to your email list.
The feature section on LinkedIn is a perfect way to promote your newsletter for free. Use it.
Tactic 4: The Custom Link (My Secret Weapon)
If you’re a LinkedIn Premium member, you get access to a custom link.
This has gotten me the most subscribers in the past few months.
The custom link appears at the top of your posts, messages, and profile. If someone who doesn’t follow you sees your post on their feed, they can click to subscribe immediately.
Pro tip: You can pay for one month of Premium, add your custom link, then cancel. The link stays there.
The Truth About Growing Your List
Growing a list can be a headache. Not everyone will trust you enough to give you their email.
I know because I’ve grown a client’s list from 300 to 9,000 in a year.
You just have to do it enough that the process feels seamless.
Understand that going from 0 to 50 will be the hardest.
But if I can do it, I believe you can too.
P.S. I’m launching a mini email course on how to start your newsletter for free, with a “Newsletter Starter Kit” included. If you want early access, you can join the waitlist here.
